Memorial Day Weekend

Memorial Day weekend is here. It is meant to be a day set aside to remember those who died in military service to our country. Somehow over the years, it also came to be a day to honor all veterans (I thought thats what Veterans day is for). It also came to be a day to decorate all graves, no matter whose they are, at least around where I live. This has taken on sort of a fashion show feel for cemeteries. Memorial Day is also the traditional start of the summer vacation season. And then there’s the Indy 500. That’s all fine and good, but sometime this weekend, please stop and give a bit of remembrance and honor to those who gave the last full measure for their nation and for me and you!
